On 2–3 September 2025, HAQAA3 reached a major milestone in its work on “Capacity Building and Training for Internal and External Quality Assurance,” led by DAAD.
A two-day workshop was held in Accra, Ghana, hosted by the DAAD Regional Office Ghana and the Association of African Universities (AAU). It brought together coordinators from 13 national dissemination projects across North, East, and West Africa. These coordinators represented a range of stakeholders, including higher education institutions, quality assurance agencies, and national ministries.
The workshop was a key part of the support provided to project coordinators, helping them effectively implement their national projects. Its objectives included:
- Gaining insight into national quality assurance (QA) systems and regional frameworks in West, North, and East Africa
- Bridging gaps between different higher education systems, regions, and language groups
- Presenting individual projects and exchanging peer feedback and inspiration
- Understanding legal and administrative requirements, including reporting obligations
- Building new connections with QA professionals and strengthening the HAQAA Ambassadors network
To achieve these goals, the workshop featured project presentations, interactive expert inputs, group work, peer feedback, and networking sessions.
The dissemination projects and HAQAA Ambassadors are set to play a pivotal role in scaling up internal quality assurance and promoting the use of continental QA tools—such as ASG-QA and ACTS—throughout African higher education institutions.
This activity underscores HAQAA3’s continued commitment to building a robust regional QA culture, enhancing professional capacities, and promoting sustainable, peer-led dissemination strategies across the continent.
