FINAL MODULE
Developing national academic mobility and recognition roadmaps
The Final Module brings together the work carried out throughout Modules 1–3 of the ACTS Pilot online programme.
National teams are invited to translate these reflections into a practical national roadmap on academic mobility and recognition, identifying where they are now, where they want to go, the actions that could help them move forward, and the issues that require regional or continental cooperation.
The process will take place in two stages, with a joint final live session on 10 November connecting the initial national reflections with the next steps.
Relevance of national roadmaps on mobility and recognition
Each roadmap is both a national and a continental contribution. It should be useful to the country that develops it. Together, the roadmaps will provide evidence on how mobility, credit transfer and recognition work across different African higher education contexts.
This evidence will help identify common challenges, existing practices, enabling conditions and areas where regional or continental cooperation is needed.
Direct contribution to ACTS and policy
Policy development and regional integration
The roadmaps will provide evidence from national and institutional realities to inform future policy development at regional, continental and international levels. Their findings can feed African Union and European Commission policy discussions, the CESA Higher Education Cluster, the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme and relevant regional frameworks, helping connect the future development of ACTS with wider priorities for academic mobility, recognition and higher education integration in Africa.
ACTS User’s Guide
National roadmaps will directly inform the ACTS User’s Guide, ensuring that the Guide responds to real national and institutional contexts, rather than proposing a single model detached from practice.
ACTS Ambassadors Network
The people and institutions actively contributing to the roadmaps will form the basis of the future ACTS Ambassadors Network, supporting peer exchange, dissemination and the future implementation of ACTS.
ACTS Virtual Space
Practices, examples and resources generated through the Pilot will remain available to support participating countries and other institutions wishing to engage with ACTS.
SUBMISSION
LIVE SESSION – November 10
Joint final ACTS Pilot online session
All regional clusters will come together to share their initial national reflections.
Each national team will have a space to present its context, main challenges and emerging priorities.
The session will be led by Prof. Wail Benjelloun, who will also lead the team preparing the draft ACTS User’s Guide.
NEED SUPPORT?
The HAQAA Team and the ACTS Experts are available throughout the process.
National virtual meetings can be organised with authorities, participating higher education institutions and other relevant stakeholders to discuss specific issues, bring together national and institutional perspectives, and support the preparation of the roadmap.
